Master Michelle Johnson

Master MichelleMichelle started as a white belt with NSMA in January 1995 where she trained under Grandmaster Giampietro in Okinawa Japan.

Ms. Michelle Johnson has been the Chief Instructor at NSMA South Dakota where she taught with her husband Dave, a 3rd Dan. She was named NSMA Instructor of the year for 2002 and was presented a beautiful crystal award at the NSMA Holiday Party that year. Ms. Michelle was promoted to 5th Dan Black Belt in June 2006.

 

Currently, Ms. Michelle is a Certified Master Instructor and teaches at the NSMA Headquarters School in San Antonio, Texas. She is a very motivated demonstrator and instructor of Taekwondo who loves to teach children and prepare them for competition.

Why did you get started in TaeKwonDo? I’ve always wanted to do martial arts since I was a kid because it looked cool. Also, my mom says it’s in the genes because my dad has a black belt in martial arts.

What is your current rank? 6th Degree

What was the most difficult thing that you learned along the way? Learning how to do pushups when I was 9 months pregnant with my son.

When did you start competing? 1995

What do you do for fun? Going to the movies with my friends is just one of many things I like to do for fun.

What would we find in your refrigerator right now? Water, eggs, OJ, milk, fruits…the usuals

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? Teleportation so I’d never be late 4 anything…he…he 😉

What’s the craziest (first?) job you’ve ever had? During the summer I would help my mom and dad stock groceries late at night at the base commissary when I was about 13 years old.

What is your greatest weakness? Chocolate! =)-
